Prior to joining Van Dermyden Maddux, Brendan practiced for eight years at a civil litigation firm, where he represented public and private employers in state and federal employment and civil rights litigation. Brendan also regularly advised employers regarding compliance with applicable state and federal laws, and provided training on the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. In addition, he has substantial experience representing clients before administrative agencies such as the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the National Labor Relations Board, and the California Department of Labor Standards Enforcement.
Brendan is a 2003 graduate of U.C. Santa Cruz and a 2009 graduate of the Golden Gate University School of Law, where he made the Dean’s List and received awards in legal writing and criminal procedure. During law school, Brendan also served as an extern to the Honorable James Ware of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
