Justin is an experienced investigator and uses his background in digital evidence and computer forensics in the workplace investigations context. Justin is licensed to practice law in California and Nevada.
Justin has worked as an investigator with Van Dermyden Maddux since 2011. He conducts investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other forms of misconduct. Justin has served as the Lead Investigator in well over 100 workplace investigations. He regularly investigates allegations against high ranking employees, executives, and elected officials. He has experience testifying in support of his investigations.
Justin is well-versed in the investigation of campus-level allegations of sexual harassment, sexual violence, and sex-based discrimination under Title IX. He has investigated allegations involving University faculty and administrators, multiple respondents, incapacitation, and the inability to consent. Justin received a certificate from the Association of Title IX Administrators and is trained in Trauma Informed Forensic Interviewing.
Justin is a Certified Computer Forensic Examiner and regularly speaks on digital evidence and computer forensics. He is the former Vice President of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association, Northern California Chapter.
Prior to joining Van Dermyden Maddux, Justin worked as a law clerk at the Law Office of Kira Wattenburg King, and York Law Corporation. While studying law at UC Davis, he worked as a Research Assistant under Professor Lisa R. Pruitt, was a member of the UC Davis Trial Practice Honors Board, and served as a Senior Editor of Environs, a biannual environmental law and policy journal. Justin also worked as an extern at both the Yolo County Superior Court and the Yolo County Public Defender’s Office.
Justin graduated from UC Davis School of Law, and earned an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. He holds a Certificate from the Association of Workplace Investigators National Institute.
