During college, Tenaya dedicated much of her time to serving on a panel of students called the Honor Board, which holds disciplinary hearings in cases of alleged academic dishonesty. She also worked as a Teaching Assistant for both the Political Science and Anthropology and Sociology departments. Tenaya received the Dean Acheson Prize at Knox College and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She attended Sacramento Waldorf School in Fair Oaks from 3rd to 12th grade. Outside of work Tenaya enjoys ceramics, painting, and hiking.
