Cristina Watson-Ilacqua, M.A.

Title IX Hearing Coordinator

Cristina is the Title IX Hearing Coordinator at Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation.  She directly assists the Hearing Officer Director and the Hearing Officer Team with all aspects of their Title IX matters. Cristina understands the complexities of the Title IX landscape, and has completed relevant trainings in conducting hearings and using trauma-informed interviewing techniques.

Cristina graduated cum laude from Northern Arizona University, earning a B.A. in physical anthropology and minors in biology, Spanish, and Japanese.  She received her M.A. in forensic anthropology from Texas State University-San Marcos. Prior to joining the firm, Cristina served as a teaching assistant for introductory anthropology, archaeology, and osteology courses at Texas State University-San Marcos and Syracuse University.  During that time, she assisted in ongoing research and data acquisition, and designed and conducted several interdisciplinary research projects that included data analysis and report writing. While her background is within the realm of archaeology, her experience in teaching and research at higher education institutions has given Cristina a wide variety of knowledge that she draws from on a day-to-day basis assisting the Hearing Officer team and the firm at large.

In her spare time, Cristina enjoys hiking, kayaking, cooking, and traveling.  She is also a martial artist and an aspiring distance runner.
