Trained in Trauma Informed Forensic Interviewing, Katherine is also an experienced investigator in Title IX sexual misconduct claims. She understands best practices in the Title IX arena, and challenges facing schools and parties when sexual violence allegations surface.

Katherine has investigated matters at K-12 Districts and Universities, including allegations involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. She is trained in and is experienced with challenges that may arise in investigations with LGBTQ parties.

Prior to joining Van Dermyden Makus, Katherine worked as a Law Clerk for Disability Rights California and for the Health Division of Legal Services of Northern California. While working for these public as-sistance organizations, Katherine gained practical experience in assisting clients with formal govern-ment complaints as well as with Medi-Cal benefit termination hearings. She also clerked for Hirst Law Group, a firm specializing in plaintiff- side whistleblower litigation.

While studying law at UC Davis, Katherine served as Editor-in-Chief of the Business Law Journal, a biannual business law and policy journal. Katherine graduated from UC Davis School of Law, and holds an undergraduate degree from Thomas Aquinas College.
