Kayleigh Birks is a Senior Attorney Investigator with Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation.  Her practice focuses on conducting workplace and Title IX campus investigations.

Kayleigh has handled numerous complex investigations involving a variety of allegations.  She regularly investigates claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other workplace misconduct. She is skilled in investigating intricate allegations, including complaints involving multiple sets of allegations, multiple parties, and high-level executives. Kayleigh conducts workplace investigations in both the private and public employment sectors. 

Kayleigh’s approach to each investigation is inquisitive, organized, and flexible.  She understands that each case requires a uniquely tailored approach to appropriately and fully address each concern. Her experience covers a wide range of industries, including high-tech, education, construction, medical, public agencies, legal, and not-for-profit entities.   

Kayleigh’s experience prior to joining Van Dermyden Makus includes working as a family law attorney and misdemeanor criminal prosecutor.  As a result, she is well-versed in various contexts and is comfortable handling complicated and sensitive subject matters. 

Kayleigh graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2017. During law school, she was an executive board member of the inaugural Women in Law group and earned a CALI award for excellence in her advanced family law course.  Prior to law school, Kayleigh graduated cum laude from Elon University in 2014, where she majored in psychology while competing as a Division I Track and Field athlete.
