Meet Sue Ann Van Dermyden, a champion of others. Vanessa Kelly interviews Sue Ann and she tells of her journey from a small town in the Dakotas to California.

The first VM writing contest came to a close and it generated a lot of response and entries. Thank you to all the participants! We received so many entries, that we had a hard time selecting the winner. But in the end, we had to decide on one – however, we just couldn’t ignore all the other great entries, so we created some sub-categories that brought light your personalities and fun you had with this.

As a member of the McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific Alumni Board of Directors, VM Law Corp’s Sue Ann Van Dermyden took part in a very productive two-day meeting this past weekend.

In the fall Chair’s message, I set aside the tradition of introducing myself as incoming Chair and promised to do so in a later edition when world and national events had calmed down. We still have challenges ahead, but I suspect many of you share my feelings of renewed hope as we move into 2021; thanks to the efforts of the scientific community, it appears we will soon have vaccines available that will start to turn the tide of the pandemic. Unfortunately, no one knows exactly how long that will take, and my tenure as Chair is only one year.

Van Dermyden Maddux Law Corporation’s founding and senior partner, Sue Ann Van Dermyden, has become an adjunct professor at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law this current semester.

Tomorrow Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will become the first woman in history to lie in state in the US Capitol when her casket is placed in National Statuary Hall. Another first for a legend who paved the way for an entire generation of women to pursue careers as attorneys. That includes us – two female owners of a thriving law firm.
