Eli Makus Becomes President of AWI’s Board of Directors

Eli Makus, Senior Managing Partner of Van Dermyden Makus Law Corporation, has been named the Association of Workplace Investigators’ (AWI) President for a two-year term. He previously served as AWI’s Treasurer from 2017 to 2019, and as its Vice President and Institute Committee Co-Chair from 2019 to 2021.

Eli has worked with other AWI leaders on several important achievements since he joined the AWI board.  Most recently, he helped convert AWI’s five-day Training Institute—the gold standard in training for workplace investigators—into a virtual program during the pandemic. With Eli and Institute co-chair Monica Jeffrey at the helm, AWI successfully deployed the program three times in 2021.

About being named President, Eli says:

“I am honored to serve as AWI’s Board President, which is an exceptional organization poised for great things at this pivotal moment in its history. I look forward to working with a growing team of highly skilled and dedicated volunteer leaders, who represent our diverse   membership, from Australia to New York and Canada, to take AWI to the next level.  We are committed to improving the quality of impartial workplace investigations, because this important work helps improve workplaces.”
