Eli Makus Was Selected by the IACP to Present at Their Annual Conference in September

We are pleased to announce that senior partner, Eli Makus was invited to present to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) at their annual conference which will be held September 11-14, 2021 in New Orleans.

Eli, along with Chief Tammany Brooks, City of Antioch, Chief of Police and Karen Kramer, Kramer Workplace Investigations, will deliver a virtual presentation titled Restoring Confidence In Internal Affairs: Responding To Employee Complaints With A Workplace Investigation Model.

The presentation will introduce to law enforcement professionals working in any size agency the concept that an internal affairs investigation is not necessarily the same as a workplace investigation. While there are pros & cons to both types of investigations, internal affairs investigations are currently perceived with skepticism by the public and media. Workplace investigations, even if conducted under the umbrella of an internal affairs division, should sometimes be conducted by an independent investigator with no vested interest in the outcome of the investigation.

At the conclusion of the session, attendees will know how to respond to employee complaints using a workplace investigation model in the law enforcement field.
