Before joining Van Dermyden Makus, Harper was a civil litigator at a Los Angeles firm, where her practice focused on high-stakes litigation for technology, media, entertainment, and sports clients.  She has litigated allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment, bullying, fraud, and corporate and legal ethics violations. 

Before law school, Harper served as an assistant director of admissions at a private university in Los Angeles.  As an attorney, her clients have included schools and universities, and she has co-authored several publications on legal trends in higher education.

Harper graduated from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where she was in the top of her class and won the Judge E. Avery Crary award for excellence in the Hale Moot Court program.  She was a judicial extern for the Honorable Jesus G. Bernal of the Central District of California.  She graduated cum laude with Highest Honors in Philosophy from Smith College.
