VM Recommends - Bay Area Edition

This month’s VM Recommends brings us selections from Senior Attorney Investigator and Adjudicator, Christina Petricca.

What is a book you would recommend?

I read Kristin Hannah’s The Nightingale a while ago and it is still one of my favorite books.  The Nightingale is a historical fiction that describes the difficulties faced by two sisters during World War II. The book moves between present day and the past and each chapter leaves you hanging to find out what happens next. I’ve read several of Kristin Hannah’s books and I really enjoy her writing style.

What is your favorite place to visit in the San Francisco Bay Area?

One of my favorite nearby places to visit is a small town called Pescadero. The town is about one hour south of San Francisco and is home to some incredible beaches, most of which are California State Parks. My family’s favorite beach is Bean Hollow State Park because it allows dogs and our lab loves the water. The Pigeon Point Lighthouse is also nearby. It is a working lighthouse that you can visit and boasts incredible ocean views as well as frequent whale and sea lion sightings. We also love to visit the town of Pescadero. The town is very small but has a great coffee shop and a local grocery store with daily fresh-baked artichoke bread. I highly recommend stopping in Pescadero for a day trip or during your next drive down the coast.
