VM Spotlight: Meet Erich Knorr

Hello! Thank you for supporting VM and reading our newsletters.  Whether you are a longtime friend, esteemed acquaintance, trusted client, respected colleague, or have just stumbled upon our investigations law firm, we are happy you are here!  To show our appreciation, we want to properly introduce ourselves.  Each month, we will be highlighting different members of our team, so you can learn all about who we are both inside and outside of the workplace and campus investigations field.

This month, we are delighted to put the VM Spotlight on one of our Partners, Erich Knorr.  Erich has been with the Firm for six years. During that time he has grown his skillset and knowledge of investigations while being a valued mentor of Team VM. In his role as a Partner, Erich wears many hats. Whether it’s reviewing reports, client communications, or mentoring Associates, Erich is always willing to lend a helping hand. Outside of the Firm, Erich is a husband, and father of two who likes to spend time on the mat training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

We are very grateful to Erich for his many contributions to the Firm as both an outstanding leader and mentor.  He was able to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to sit down and chat with Emma Newton, VM’s Administrative Specialist.  To learn more about Erich, you can read his interview below.

EN: What do you love most about the work we do?

EK: We provide a really valuable service for our clients. They often come to us during their most challenging times. We help them navigate difficult circumstances and give them the tools they need to make informed decisions.  Our work has a positive impact on our clients’ organizations. That is what gets me excited to get to work every day.

EN: What do you love most about your position specifically?

EK: I love being in a leadership role and working with other team members. We have a great mentorship program. I like strategizing with others in handling the difficult circumstances we sometimes face and also being able to support their career development.

EN: What is your greatest professional accomplishment?

EK: When I was elevated to Partner at VM. That was a significant goal of mine. I love being part of this amazing team of professionals.

EN: At our Firm, what are you most grateful for?

EK: I’m most grateful for the people that we work with. Our team is made up of genuinely kind, respectful, and professional people who are good at what they do. They are constantly working to improve themselves and everyone here makes excellence a priority.

EN: What’s your definition of teamwork?

EK: Teamwork to me is having each other’s back and supporting one another in working towards a common goal. It’s all about trust. That is what allows everyone to be at their best and focus on the big picture.

EN: What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

EK: I have studied abroad three different times. The first time was in Spain during my undergrad; the second was in Spain, Morocco, Belgium and France; and finally, in law school I studied in Salzburg, Austria.  During my time in Austria, I was able to take a course from former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Anthony Kennedy.  That was an amazing experience.

EN: Where is your favorite place in the world? / What was your favorite vacation?

EK: Thailand was my favorite place to visit. The food was delicious and the scenery was breathtaking.

EN: What do you think it means to be successful?

EK: To me success is fulfillment. It’s having a sense of purpose and cultivating all the different aspects of your life – personal and professional. As my family has grown, maintaining strong relationships with family has become a significant piece of the puzzle.

EN: What has been the most influential advice you received?

EK: Live a life of going for it.  Meaning, get outside of your comfort zone. Set high goals and keep reaching.

EN: What is an essential part of your daily routine?

EK: The most important part of my day is being home for dinner with my family.  I never miss that.

We are so very grateful for Erich’s leadership at VM and for taking the time out to chat with Emma.  Come back next month for June’s edition of VM Spotlight and meet another member of our valued team.
