VM Value: Teamwork

At Van Dermyden Makus (VM), we value teamwork.  In fact, we believe in the value of a team approach so much, we decided to team up to write this blog post.

When you choose VM, it may appear as though you have one investigator assigned to your case.  But in reality, you are benefitting from a team of investigators and professional staff drawing from a wealth of knowledge.  Our team members have diverse backgrounds that offer a wide range of expertise.  Our investigators are skilled in conducting investigations and hearings in a variety of fields, including technology, sports and entertainment, healthcare, education, public safety, and Title IX. Together, our combined experiences ensure our work – from intake to the final report – is thorough, detailed, and tailored to the complexities unique to each investigation.

Our team of attorneys and professional staff also work together to provide our clients with exceptional work product.  Each of our investigative reports undergoes a robust internal review process.  This process involves multiple team members, including senior associates, editors, and partners, to ensure we provide our clients with a high-quality report. Our editors are expert writers and proofreaders, who ensure every report is readable and meets VM’s exacting standards. Our team members are innovative, collaborative, and work together to provide our clients with the tools they need to make important decisions.

By working as a team, rather than individuals, our clients can rest assured that any investigator assigned to their matter comes with the collective expertise of decades of experience.

Christina’s Perspective of Teamwork at VM

“I have experienced teamwork at VM by drawing upon the collective knowledge that comes with a Firm dedicated to neutrality and expertise in workplace and campus investigations.  When I’ve handled complicated investigations, co-workers have shared suggestions for outlines of similar reports they’ve completed. When I’ve come across a particularly perplexing grammatical situation, I’ve turned to our expert editors who always have the answer. The level of support, collaboration and shared knowledge at Van Dermyden Makus is what makes our team truly exceptional and sets us apart from other law firms.”

Linh’s Perspective of Teamwork at VM

“Being an attorney can be lonely.  Even for those attorneys working within a firm, you can feel like you are on an island working on your own cases.  That has never been my experience at VM.  My colleagues are always available to strategize approaches, whiteboard issues, and talk through analyses.  This is just one of many reasons why the VM experience is so exceptional for team members and clients alike.”

What we do is important.  It matters to the decisionmakers who are trying to solve a problem.  It matters to the parties involved in a workplace dispute.  And it matters to VM.  We have found our team approach makes us better at what we do.
