Building Up Communities Around the World

We are pleased to have been a part of bringing education to the village of Chidaola, Malawi. Van Dermyden Maddux Law Corporation was a “Hero” sponsor in raising funds for the BuildOn non-profit organization as they planned and built a new schoolhouse that will host 960 students (425 boys and 535 girls) along with 3 teachers and will cover seven grade levels.

BuildOn originally planned to help the community of Chidaola build the school, but COVID-19 dashed those plans and left the community to carry out the build of their new school by itself. The community came together and parents and neighbors of students lent their own hands and local materials and contributed over 915 workdays to build the school. Women served alongside men on the worksite, which was a breakthrough achievement in Malawi where women are often denied equal opportunities. We are overjoyed to see the completion of the new school and even more encouraged to see that the community broke some barriers on the way to achieving their goal.

We want to send a special thank you to Oppenheimer Investigations Group who helped organize the donors on this school’s build and the BuildOn organization for lifting up communities in developing countries around the world.
