Liz DeChellis to speak at the Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality and Anti-Discrimination Law’s 2024 Conference

Partner Liz DeChellis, presented at the Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality & Anti-Discrimination Law’s 2023 Annnual Conference: New Developments in Gender Discrimination, Harassment, and Violence in Employment and Education on Friday, January 5th.

Liz was a panelist for the K-12 and Higher Education session alongside Lisa Buehler, from Buehler Trapani LLP, Lynzie DeVeres, from Claremont McKenna College, Ilona Turner, from Oppenheimer Investigations Group LL, and Keasara (Kiki) Williams, from San Francisco Unified School District. The panel discussed emerging issues in discrimination, harassment, and violence in K-12 schools and higher education. The panel of Title IX and DEI experts, attorney investigators, and hearing officers hightlighted the evolving legal landscape for transgender students, navigating challenges unique to educational settings, and upcoming Title IX regulatory changes. Attendees gained insights into pronoun usage, sports team participation, and nuanced considerations for working with children and neurodivergent students.
