Senior Attorney Investigators Kayleigh Birks and Sarah Tobias led a presentation titled “The Twists and Turns of Investigations: How to Tackle the Unexpected” on Wednesday, March 12, at 1:00 PM during the 2025 CalGovHR Conference & Expo in Sonoma Wine Country.
Description of Session:
While investigations can and do proceed without unexpected or unusual situations, there are occasions(more often than we would like) that something happens to surprise or even confound experienced investigators. This session will walk through scenarios of unexpected situations and will identify strategies and responses investigators can use if they find themselves in similarly unique situations. Following this session, participants will feel more confident in tackling the unexpected in investigations, will be able to provide advice to colleagues who encounter novel situations, and will have the tools necessary to navigate unique investigations going forward.
